Craftsman Troy-Bilt Lawn Mower Recall Overview:

MTD Products Inc. has recalled Craftsman 30” Mini and Troy-Bilt TB30 riding lawn mowers that can pose a low-speed crash hazard after failing to brake.
The recalled Craftsman and Troy-Bilt riding lawn mowers can fail to come to a complete stop when the clutch/brake pedal is fully depressed and continue to move at about one mile per hour. No associated injuries or incidents have been reported as of the Apr. 14 recall.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall number is 22-119.
Recall Affects 6,200 Craftsman, Troy-Bilt Riding Lawn Mowers
The recall affects about 6,200 lawn mowers sold by The Home Depot, Lowe’s and hardware stores nationwide from July 2021 through January 2022 for about $1,600.
The recalled lawn mowers are red and black with “Troy-Bilt” or “Craftsman” printed on the front column. Recalled mowers are not marked with a green X.
The mowers were manufactured from July 20, 2021, to Dec. 17, 2022, and have serial numbers 1G20MB20001 through 1L17MB20228. The first letter in the serial number represents the month of manufacturing from A as January through L as December. The date of manufacture is represented as the third and fourth characters of the product’s serial number.
The product’s manufacture month and year can be found on the model plate label under the heading “DOM” (date of manufacture). The date of manufacture, the serial number and the following model or SKU numbers can be found on the model plate label on the bottom of the seat pan.

Consumers Should Stop Using Recalled Craftsman, Troy-Bilt Riding Mowers
Consumers with a recalled lawn mower should stop using the product and contact Craftsman or Troy-Bilt. Company representatives will direct consumers to a local repair shop to replace the mower’s drive belt at no cost to the consumer. If necessary, pickup and delivery can also be arranged at no cost to the consumer.
